Mines set record production levels

Posted August 18, 2008 13:10:00

Rio Tinto Coal has posted new production records at its two mines in central Queensland, despite severe flooding earlier this year.

The Blair Athol mine broke two records for the first half of the year, setting a new weekly record of 354,000 tonnes and a monthly record of 1.3 million tonnes in March.

The Hail Creek mine set a new monthly record as well, producing more than 630,000 tonnes in May.
