Zebra crossing causes 'traffic mayhem'

Posted August 19, 2008 08:39:00

There are calls for a newly constructed zebra crossing in Orange to be removed because it is causing "traffic mayhem" in one of the city's busiest streets.

The crossing in Anson Street is in the middle of a taxi rank and near the entrance and exit to a car park.

Councillor Reg Kidd says taxi drivers are concerned about the crossing.

He says he will use a notice of motion to this week's council meeting to call for the crossing's removal before someone is killed.

"I sat there for an hour and it was just one hour of all this horror in front of your eyes, which you couldn't believe and at no stage was it working successfully," he said.
