Toxic fumes: Burning tanker forces evacuation

Posted August 19, 2008 09:50:00

An RTA depot has been evacuated after a bitumen tank caught fire at Narrandera, in the New South Wales Riverina, this morning.

The 20,000 litre tank contains about 5,000 litres of bitumen.

Firefighters have set-up a 50 metre exclusion zone and are monitoring the toxicity of the fumes.

The risk from the fumes is currently considered low to moderate.
