Reynolds argues against ambulance privatisation

Posted August 19, 2008 11:22:00

The Speaker of State Parliament is opposing his own Government's decision to give consideration to privatising parts of the Queensland Ambulance Service.

A 2007 audit recommended the Government privatise the patient transfer component of the ambulance service and State Cabinet has endorsed the report.

Townsville MP Mike Reynolds says it would be a mistake.

"As a former minister and someone who has worked very closely with the ambos over a long period of time, I think it would be to the detriment of the Queensland Ambulance Service to privatise that component of it," he said.
