Snowy deaths prompt safety warning

Posted August 19, 2008 11:34:00

Three deaths in the Snowy Mountains last weekend has prompted a warning for visitors to Kosciuszko National Park.

A man died after being buried in ice and snow at Mt Kosciuszko and two other men died in separate skiing accidents.

The National Parks and Wildlife Service's Snowy Mountains regional manager, Dave Darlington, says visitors should always travel in a group and take the right equipment.

"People do have a lot of capacity to enter into really remote areas and do some challenging activities, but they also need to consider the risks associated with those activities and particularly the risks that the weather in the mountains can bring to them," he said.
