No election for some Riverina councils

Posted August 19, 2008 11:36:00

Several Riverina councils will not be involved in next month's local government elections.

Carrathool, Conargo and Lockhart are uncontested councils and have had their polls declared.

Councillors will take up their posts after September 13.

But voters in Bland Shire will have to vote in a by-election for two seats that remain unfilled.

Seven of nine Bland councillors have been elected unopposed.
