Western shires rank poorly in quality of life survey

Posted August 20, 2008 08:27:00

Four western New South Wales shires have been ranked as having the lowest quality of life in New South Wales.

A recent survey ranked almost 600 councils across Australia against indicators including crime rates, health, education levels and employment rates.

The Brewarrina Shire was ranked as having the lowest quality of life in the state, followed by the Walgett, Central Darling and Bourke shires.

Sydney's Ku-ring-gai and Hunter's Hill are considered to have the "best quality of life" in Australia.
