The Department of Primary Industries says more than 60 submissions have been lodged in response to proposed new rules for a number of Queensland's fisheries.

Responses on changes to the East Coast Trawl, Finfish Trawl, East Coast Tropical Rock Lobster, Crab and Freshwater fisheries are due in by next Wednesday.

The department says its goal is to develop rules which are fair to those using the resource, as well as ensuring the fishery is protected and sustainable for future generations to enjoy.

So far more than 150 people have attended consultation meetings about the changes.
