North Burnett council budget delivers 9pc rate rise

Posted August 20, 2008 12:40:00

The North Burnett Regional Council has handed down its first budget, with an average 9 per cent rate rise.

It says one rating system has been introduced to unify all six former shire council areas.

Mayor Joy Jensen says it will collect rates bi-annually to make it easier for people to budget.

"Some have actually had a decrease in their rates but there are those that have had an increase, but we have put in a cap on those increases to try and assist in this first year," she said.
