Teen recovering from conveyor belt accident

Posted August 20, 2008 14:10:00

A teenager is recovering in hospital after getting stuck in a conveyor belt in a north Queensland workshop yesterday.

The 17-year-old was working at DBT Australia in Mackay when he became stuck in the machine for about 15 minutes.

He was taken to the Mackay Base Hospital just after 12:00pm AEST with abdominal injuries, as well as suspected spinal injuries.

In 2006, the same company was fined $60,000 after it pleaded guilty to failing to ensure a safe workplace after the death of a worker in 2004.
