Fremantle Dockers midfielder Mark Johnson is to retire at the end of the season.

Johnson spent just one season with Fremantle.

The 30-year-old was drafted from Essendon in the 2007 AFL draft and has played just 12 games with Fremantle.

Johnson joined the Dockers after 194 games with Essendon and was part of the 2000 premiership team.

Fremantle says he will play the final two games of the home-and-away season before retiring.

Dockers coach Mark Harvey says he has no regrets recruiting Johnson for just one season before he retired.

"He's brought a lot to this footy club, and in time you guys will get to speak to some of the younger players about Mark Johnson and his time here, and they'll be full of praise for him," he said.
