Police seek help with 'big brother' phone scam

Posted August 22, 2008 08:42:00

People in Tasmania's north-west are being warned about an SMS scam.

Police say several people received an SMS on their mobile phones last week from someone claiming to be their brother with a new phone number.

The sender says he has lost his phone and wallet and needs a quick loan put into certain bank accounts.

Police say they are working with various banks to find the culprit and want anyone with information or a similar message to come forward.
