Men charged over Palm Island grog run

Posted August 24, 2008 07:08:00

Three men have been charged with attempting to smuggle a large amount of alcohol onto Queensland's Palm Island.

Police stopped a boat near Fantome Island, 75 kilometres north-west of Townsville, yesterday after receiving a tip-off.

A large quantity of wine, spirits and other alcohol was found on board and the boat was towed to Palm Island.

Three Palm Island residents were charged with attempting to bring restricted liquor into a proscribed area.
