Vic motoring group backs Fuel Watch criticism

Victoria's RACV has joined other motoring groups in calling for changes to the Federal Government's proposed petrol price monitoring scheme.
The organisation says motorists would be disadvantaged under Fuel Watch.
RACV spokesman David Cumming says people would pay more at the pump, because locking petrol prices in for 24 hours means the amount cannot drop in a day's trading.
"That's the clear evidence coming out of Perth where Fuelwatch does exist," he said.
"Why not make it better than the original legislation, listen to the auto clubs, and I'm sure we can come up with a far better Fuelwatch that what they've started with."
Mr Cumming says live pricing data is already available, where prices are updated every 30 minutes.
"Why shouldn't motorists have access to that sort of data."
"But if you freeze prices, your access to cheaper weekly prices will disappear," said Mr Cumming.
