Bravery honour for Keiraville man

Posted August 25, 2008 09:44:00

A Keiraville man will be given an Australian Bravery Award today for saving a man from a burning car four years ago.

John Partridge was visiting a shopping centre at Port Macquarie in 2004 when a nearby car exploded into flames.

Mr Partridge, along with two other men, braved the flames and managed to rescue the driver who was trapped in the car.

Despite his efforts and receiving minor burns in the rescue, Mr Partridge says his heroic act was just part of his nature.

"Well I don't know, I suppose it's just something in my nature ... if I saw somebody that was in trouble and that needed help then I would help them," he said.

Another man will be commended for brave conduct for rescuing his father who was experiencing difficulty while swimming at Seven Mile Beach at Shoalhaven Heads in 2004.
