Wind farms green light to boost jobs

Posted August 25, 2008 11:44:00

Almost 200 new jobs will be created in the Moyne Shire, with two wind farms given final planning approval.

The Victorian Government has confirmed a 68-turbine farm at Ryan's Corner, near Port Fairy, and a 31-turbine farm near Hawkesdale, will go ahead.

TME Australia will spend $445 million on both projects.

It will hire 180 construction staff and the projects will sustain 12 ongoing jobs.

The farms are expected to generate enough energy to power 97,000 homes.
