Hornets win Big V Division Three Championship

Posted August 25, 2008 14:00:00

The Horsham Hornets basketball team wrapped up the Big V Division Three Championship Series in Horsham on Saturday night.

The Hornets won the first of the three-game series against McKinnon in Melbourne the previous weekend, and scored a 28 point victory on Saturday night to clinch the title.

Veteran Horsham Hornets coach Barry McTaggart followed up the win by announcing his retirement.

"I've been involved in basketball at some level since I was 16 and I'm 66 in a few weeks and that's a long innings, but when I say hanging up the boots I'm not going to coach serious basketball again I'm just going to work on teaching juniors how to play," he said.
