Bravery honour for car crash rescuer

Posted August 25, 2008 14:42:00

A man from western Victoria who has been awarded a national bravery medal says he does not feel like a hero.

Trevor Oliver helped rescue the victims of a fiery car crash on the road between Bacchus March and Geelong in April 2007.

Mr Oliver and Geelong man Fergus Jackson pulled one of the drivers from his burning car and towed the other car away from the burning wreckage.

Mr Oliver says he did not think about the danger.

"To sit down and reflect on it now ... someone said to me over the weekend, 'what were you bloody thinking?''" he said.

"I just went into automatic pilot and ... I know, if I was faced with that situation again I'd do exactly the same."
