Push on to replace Echuca police station

Posted August 26, 2008 08:20:00

The Victorian Police Association says the Echuca station is a safety hazard.

The acting secretary, Senior Sergeant Greg Davies, says the building is infested with white ants and needs urgent replacing.

He says the ants have been there for several years and says the State Government must act immediately before someone gets hurt.

"Some of those are areas of public access which of course bring a new dimension to the health and safety risks within the building, so it's a pressing matter that needs to be resolved sooner rather than later ... it's not unknown for people to go through the floor, clearly we don't want that to happen to any of our members and we don't want it to happen to any member of the public," he said.
