Car fire death devastates Bright

Posted August 26, 2008 08:27:00

A community leader in Bright says residents are devastated by the death of a local man in a car fire on Sunday night.

David Kingston, 46, was found in the driver's seat when the fire was put out and died in hospital a short time later.

The cause of the fire is not yet known.

Alpine Shire councillor Daryl Pearce says Mr Kingston was a popular man.

"He was well known, and [when] a small community like this loses such a friendly type of guy that's there helping everybody and known by everybody, it's a bit of a kick in the guts," he said.
