Man charged with smuggling live fish

Posted August 27, 2008 08:05:00

A man has been charged with trying to smuggle live fish into Australia.

Customs allegedly found 13 fish in plastic bags in a search of the 34-year-old's baggage at Melbourne airport last week.

The armoured catfish were killed because they are considered a serious environmental threat.

The Chinese man is due to appear in court tomorrow.
