Drought counsellor boost for northern Vic

Posted August 27, 2008 09:43:00

Drought support services are being expanded in northern Victoria.

The Victorian Government has announced $3.5 million for extra drought counsellors in priority areas across the state.

Agriculture Minister Joe Helper says there will be a new senior counsellor and an extra financial counsellor based in both the Murray Mallee and north central Victoria.

"For farmers to adapt to the changes that are ahead, be they in terms of the seasonal conditions or be they in terms of the changing agricultural landscape that they face, these counsellors are there to assist farmers in working with those challenges," he said.
