Angler survives 15 metre cliff fall

Posted August 27, 2008 12:08:00

A 65-year-old man is in a stable condition in Wollongong Hospital with a broken leg after he fell down a cliff while fishing at the Killalea State Park.

The man was fishing on a ledge at the southern end of the park's beach yesterday afternoon when he lost balance and fell 15 metres onto rocks.

Police say he managed to crawl back up the cliff with a broken leg and used a mobile phone to call emergency services.

The man from Shell Cove was then airlifted by rescue helicopter to hospital.
