MP wants Hume Freeway issues tackled

The Liberal Member for Albury, Greg Aplin, is demanding the New South Wales Government address concerns about the new Hume Freeway.

A report on noise levels released by the Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) has been criticised by the Albury council for lacking detail.

The report found noise levels were acceptable at most of the 339 homes near the freeway, but the council says the findings are unreliable because vital data is missing.

Mr Aplin says landscaping was also lacking from the report.

"We all understand that the drought took a huge impact, but we were promised landscaping and we still need that to be in place and to detract from the site of the concrete walls," he said.

A spokeswoman for the RTA says the noise report is being discussed with the relevant government departments.

She says it is also discussing ways to reduce noise at the 20 homes found to be most affected.

But she did not say if the RTA would meet the community and council to discuss concerns about the report.
