Kambalda keen for Tidy Towns gong

Posted August 27, 2008 14:34:00

A Kambalda residents' group is hoping to secure state honours in the Keep Australia Beautiful Tidy Towns Awards.

The awards are a joint initiative between Keep Australia Beautiful WA and the Department of Environment and Conservation.

Judges will next week travel to Kambalda and Menzies to decide the regional winner.

The winner will then be in the running to claim the state award.

Di Mcintosh from the Kambalda Tidy Towns Committee says there has been much preparation for the competition.

"Kambalda's looking really good, it's lovely and clean. Our council workers do a fantastic job of keeping our town clean," she said.

"We're putting together an itinerary to show the judges what's been happening around town and the places of interest.

"It will be a really quite an interesting day."
