Australia's football coach Pim Verbeek says Socceroos star Harry Kewell is very happy with his move to Turkish club Galatasaray.

Kewell scored on his debut for the club last weekend, and has been named in a 27-man provisional squad for Australia's World Cup qualifier against Uzbekistan next month.

Verbeek says he went to Istanbul to watch Kewell play and was pleased with what he saw.

"I was with Harry last weekend, so far he is very happy with his club," he said.

"Turkish football suits him very well, so yeah I think he's thrilled with the new challenge.

"Totally new world, new league, new people, new faces and very happy with his move to Turkey."

Meanwhile Verbeek says he is confident that Newcastle duo Jade North and Ante Covic are capable of performing on the international stage.

North and Covic are the only A-League players to be included in the squad for the Uzbekistan clash.

Verbeek says North and Covic have impressed him during his time in charge.

"The players I've picked up, they're the players who've made an impression on me the last five or six months. I know what they can do," Verbeek said.

"I know they can do a job for us in the national team and at this moment that's what I'm looking for.

"It's not the moment anymore to experiment or give players possibilities in games."
