Volunteer community patrol proves successful

Posted August 28, 2008 08:43:00

The manager of community patrols in Alice Springs, Craig Cooper, says its first volunteer patrol has been a success.

Mr Cooper says the first report included abandoned vehicles, suspicious people and rogue shopping trolleys across the town.

He says the patrol will not focus on any specific areas.

"If we concentrate on one area it may be that people will know that we're concentrating on that area and they will leave that area alone and just move somewhere else," he said.

"The best thing to do is to be eyes and ears everywhere, so we won't be focusing on anywhere particular."
