Bypass corridor to be moved back

Posted August 28, 2008 13:32:00

Shoalhaven council will move the planned corridor for the Western Bypass back to its original location after concerns that its new route ran along several residents' back fence.

At their meeting this week, councillor Gareth Ward moved to revoke the general manager's authority for the route.

Mr Ward says the changes made by council staff will be undone and the corridor will now run in accordance with the plans which were put on public exhibition.

"The corridor was moved and the proposal, which was going to be included in the LEP [local environment plan] has this corridor now running along their back fence," he said.

"This move was done without consultation with residents and what I was seeking to do last night was rectify this situation."
