Man jailed over child sex abuse

A 59-year-old man from Kununurra, in northern Western Australia, has been sentenced to a year in prison for sexually abusing a 10-year-old girl.
Ben Barney was arrested in June 2007 as part of a special task force crackdown on child sex abuse in Kimberley Aboriginal communities.
In the Kununurra District Court, Barney pleaded guilty to one count of indecent dealings with a child under 13 years.
He will serve 12 months in jail on top of the time he has already spent in custody.
