Woman seriously injured in Midland accident

Posted August 28, 2008 21:03:00

A woman has been taken to hospital with serious injuries after her car overturned on Tasmania's Midland Highway.

Emergency services were called to a section of the highway near Tunbridge shortly before 4pm.

Sergeant Warwick James-Meyers says only one vehicle was involved.

"A young female driver's been travelling north on the Midland Highway and as a result, while trying to negotiate a right-hand curve, she's lost control of the vehicle, which resulted in her travelling on the incorrect side of the road and overturning a number of times," he said.

"She appears to have some serious spinal injuries and as a result has been taken by helicopter to the Royal Hobart Hospital."
