CIT meeting to discuss water prices

Posted August 29, 2008 13:15:00

The Central Irrigation Trust (CIT) says water prices and community hardship will be the focus of its annual meeting in Barmera today.

The meeting also marks the formal addition to the CIT of the Lyrup Village Settlement Trust, which has operated since the 1890s.

CIT chairman Jeff Parish says the meeting will be a chance for all irrigators to discuss issues concerning them.

"I would think that people will come to support us and get through their new water prices and motions that are on the floor, but we would expect to hear from them that it's just getting ridiculously difficult for them," he said.
