Flu sufferers should stay home

Posted August 30, 2008 10:30:00

The Health Department says Tasmanians sick with the flu should stay home.

The Department has confirmed the presence of the Influenza A and B viruses at Lauderdale Primary School in the state's south, and says other respiratory viruses are also likely to be active.

More than half of the school's students were absent from classes on Thursday because of illness.

The Health Department's Avner Misrachi says Tasmanians unaffected by any of the viruses should follow basic hygiene guidelines or be vaccinated.
