Roadside help for two-wheelers

The RACT is introducing a new breakdown service...for cyclists.

Chief Executive Greg Goodman says 'Bike Assist' recognises the growing popularity of bicycles in Tasmania, either for commuting or for leisure.

He says the service will help members who are stranded because of puncture or minor mechanical or chain problems.

"We encourage cycling and that in turn reduces the carbon footprint and that's something the RACT would like to see happen," Mr Goodman said.

"So we felt that to provide this service it would encoruage people to use bikes and feel safe while they're using them."
