Police arrested a man in Gippsland last night in relation to an armed robbery in Shepparton this week.

Forty-six year-old William Neville Mansfield has been charged with various offences including armed robbery.

It is alleged he used a shot gun to hold up the Goulburn Murray Credit Union in Shepparton on Monday.

Detective Sergeant Stuart Bailey from Armed Crime Taskforce says they got a tip from a member of the public that led them to Bruthen in Gippsland.

"We found his car at an address in the Great Alpine Road in Bruthen and as a result a bit of a surveillance operation took place... and the arrest was made last night," he said.

Police are still looking for another man in relation in the robbery.
