Insulator woes blamed for north coast blackout

Posted September 5, 2008 09:29:00

Residents in the Evans Head, Coraki and Woodburn areas have been without power for a few hours early this morning due to a breakdown in a Country Energy system.

Country Energy manager Brian Glawson says crews have been working on the problem.

"We had a supply interruption last night at Evans Head and Woodburn where a number of insulators failed at around 1:00am [AEST]," he said.

"We'll be recovering those insulators to do some testing because we had been through the line from Lismore to Woodburn and replaced every insulator on the line as a refurbishment."

Power has now been restored to most properties.
