The Victorian Opposition says that five paramedic positions that were going to be based in Stawell are being moved to Horsham.

The Liberals' Upper House MP, John Vogels, says officials had not been able to find people to fill the Stawell-based positions.

He says the jobs are being moved to Horsham in the hope that employees can be found.

"Rightfully, the local community and the ambulance officers at Stawell are fuming because this was a clear election promise before the 2006 election, which has now been reneged on," he said.

Ambulance Victoria says that regardless of where the positions are based, the paramedics will be able to work across the Wimmera district.
