Tour de France winner Sastre leaves CSC team

Posted September 5, 2008 18:18:00

Tour de France winner Carlos Sastre has left the CSC team to join the Cervelo TestTeam project, the Spanish rider said in a statement on his website.

"Everything in life has a beginning and an end, and for my future I want to find a new motivation to enjoy cycling," Sastre said on Friday.

Cervelo is the largest time-trial bike manufacturer in the world. The team was founded last month as a new professional cycling outfit that will also concentrate on testing new equipment.

It is still looking for a major sponsor, which could change its final name.

"I decided for the Cervelo team because it is a new project that really fits with my way of life," Sastre said.

"At the same time, we can work at further improving the equipment technology. This project will open the doors to new dreams for the rest of my sporting career."
