Search intensifies for missing sailors

Posted September 6, 2008 18:46:00

Authorities have stepped up the search for two sailors missing off the Queensland-New South Wales coast.

The men were sailing to Newcastle from New Caledonia and were due to arrive on Wednesday.

The Australian Maritime Safety Authority says seven planes have been searching an area from Moreton Bay off Brisbane to Newcastle since yesterday morning.

The pair last made radio contact 11 days ago near the Gold Coast.
