Mayors frustrated with health plan progress

Posted September 8, 2008 09:50:00

The Mayor of Winton Shire, in the state's west, says Queensland Health is neglecting a previous commitment to develop a regional health cluster plan.

Councillor Ed Warren says seven mayors from central western Queensland are fed up with the lack of progress on the cluster plan.

He says the mayors have formed an alliance to force Queensland Health to recommit to the plan.

Cr Warren says a meeting was held with Queensland Health last October but there has been nothing since.

"For people to live out here it's very important to have an effective and efficient health system," he said.

"Queensland Health have got to realise this and the people that have been advising governments, I don't think have been giving them the right advice, and that's been our concern."
