Miner probes truck crash

Posted September 16, 2008 10:08:00

Mining company Macarthur Coal says it is investigating an accident at one of its central Queensland mine sites, in which a dump truck ran over part of a vehicle on the weekend.

A company spokesman says a Caterpillar 789 rear dump truck collided over the front part of a four-wheel drive at its Coppabella mine site on Saturday.

The 28-year-old driver of the four-wheel drive was taken to Moranbah Hospital and later transferred to Mackay hospital.

His injuries are described as slight.

The spokesman says the company has done a re-enactment of the incident and believes the vehicle got in the dump truck's blind spot.

He says the company has changed the design of intersections at the mine site from Y-shaped to T-junctions.
