Council considers saleyards future

Posted September 17, 2008 08:41:00

The Swan Hill Rural City Council is considering the future of its stock selling complex.

The saleyards were built 13 years ago, but is now requiring an overhaul because of changed industry trends and occupational health and safety requirements.

The council's manager of corporate operations, Pat Ahern, says options include upgrading the saleyards, selling off part of the land, building at a greenfields site or closing the complex.

"We are out there, we are listening to the users and listening to the stakeholders, we want to hear the ideas, we want to hear what their views are so we can make an informed decision."
