Govt awards 45yr gas pipe licence

Posted September 19, 2008 08:08:00

The Queensland Government has awarded a company a 45 year licence for a major gas pipeline in central Queensland.

Arrow Energy wants to extract coal seam gas from Moranbah and build a pipeline to a liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant it plans to build at Gladstone.

Chief executive Shaun Scott says the licence is a significant step, and a decision on whether the project will go ahead is expected within a year.

"Our target is to be in a position to get to a financial position on the total project, reserve side, pipeline and the LNG part in the first half of next year

"Project construction time following on from that decision will be around 30 months ... towards the end of that 30 month period we'll start to move gas down the pipeline into the plant for commissioning."
