The pilot of a light plane has had a lucky escape after he clipped power lines and crashed near Berridale in the New South Wales Snowy Mountains this morning.

Police say the plane was coming in to land on a private air strip at about 8:00am when the pilot noticed a problem and attempted to go back up.

The plane hit electricity lines and crashed.

The pilot walked away with only minor injuries.
