Upside-down Billboard drives distraction: RACQ

The RACQ says a new upside-down billboard on the Ipswich Motorway, west of Brisbane, poses a safety hazard because could distract drivers.

The sign is part of a campaign to sell personalised number plates on behalf of Queensland Transport.

RACQ spokesman Jim Kershaw says the billboard should be removed.

"Driver distraction accounts for about a quarter of all fatal crashes and a third of all crashes on Queensland roads," Mr Kershaw said.

"People are going to drive past this sign, no doubt, twisting their neck to try and work out what the word says the right way up.

"It is going to be a distraction," he said.
