A New South Wales police officer has been charged with child pornography offences after a raid on his Cowra home in the state's central west.

Acting on a tip-off from police in Croatia, officers allegedly found child pornography on the 44-year-old's computer.

They also discovered a replica pistol during the search.

The probationary Constable will appear in Cowra local court in November.
