Posted September 28, 2008 10:24:00

The Sri Lankan military says 60 Tamil Tiger rebels have been killed in fighting, which has left three Government soldiers dead.

A military spokesman says the fiercest battles took place in Kilinochchi district in the north.

He says air strikes were launched against rebel gathering points.

But a pro-rebel website, says the bombs hit civilian targets, killing one person.
