AFL premiers Hawthorn have arrived in Launceston to a rousing reception by thousands of fans at York Park.

Several players including captain Sam Mitchell and Luke Hodge joined their team-mates with the premiership cup when they arrived by helicopter from Hobart.

Large numbers of school children were also at the ground as the Hawks thanked their Tasmanian supporters.

The crowd is also eagerly awaiting coach Alastair Clarkson and players to address them.

Earlier in the day, four-year-old Hawthorn fan Luke Mans proudly accepted the premiership cup on behalf of the Tasmanian people.

It is a gesture of thanks for the club's $16 million sponsorship deal with the Tasmanian Government.
