Stalker bail hearing adjourned

Posted September 29, 2008 18:16:00

A Canberra judge has adjourned a bail hearing in the ACT Supreme Court for a man who was sentenced to two years in jail for stalking a woman.

In June Paul Henderson, 30, was found guilty of stalking a woman over several years.

The court heard the Charnwood man first met the woman at a Belconnen gym in 2002, but their relationship did not extend beyond them seeing each other in passing.

Henderson tried to send her $1,000 worth of flowers and had the woman's name tattooed on his arm.

Henderson is appealing his conviction and sentence and has applied for bail.

Last week Justice Hilary Penfold said she was inclined to grant bail but reserved her final decision until today.

The Director of Public Prosecutions indicated bail would be appealed if granted.

Today Justice Penfold adjourned the bail application for two weeks.
