Nursing home recovering from flu outbreak

Posted September 30, 2008 07:41:00

A Bendigo nursing home says a flu outbreak at the facility is under control and affected residents are recovering.

The Mercy Health Bethlehem Home for the Aged says 37 of its 117 residents became ill, after the outbreak more than a week ago.

Visiting restrictions are expected to be in place until the end of the week.

The chief operating officer for aged care at Mercy Health, Gae Hewitt, says all infection control measures have been put in place.

"Our residents have improved during the last few days. There was only one presentation on Saturday and only one presentation of a flu-like illness on Sunday, and our staff who also had the flu-like illness have started to return to the facility as well," she said.
