The Nationals Leader Brendon Grylls has backed the State Treasurer Troy Buswell who has rejected speculation that an upgrade to the Kalgoorlie Regional Hospital has been put on hold.

Last week, Mr Buswell revealed a number major infrastructure projects were to be halted because of a blowout in the costs of capital works program commissioned by the previous Government.

Mr Buswell has dismissed media reports that the Kalgoorlie Hospital upgrade, promised by the Liberals before the recent state election, is among those projects.

Mr Grylls says he is confident the Premier, Colin Barnett, will honour his pre-election promise.

"We are very, very keen to see that project proceed at the earliest convenience," Mr Grylls said.

"We've also said that we're happy for that to be a "Royalties for Regions" project and we look forward to working with the Member for Kalgoorlie, John Bowler, to make that happen."
